Cosmetic surgery is a godsend to many ladies due to the changes that take place in the body as they grow older. There are a variety of procedures whose aim is to enhance the appearance of the face, breasts and the rest of the body.

Breast procedures are very popular among ladies since the breasts tend to easily lose their shape. One of the procedures that is used to bring back the youthful shape of the breasts is the breast lift. Sydney is home to some of the best cosmetic surgeons who can safely carry out the procedure on you.

When To Consider A Breast Lift

If your breasts have lost their firmness and are sagging after a pregnancy or due to aging, then you may consider a breast lift. The procedure is also suitable if you have lost a large amount of weight that has resulted in the loss of volume from the breasts. If the nipples are facing downward or they fall below the crease of your breast, they can be corrected.

Breasts that are abnormally shaped can also be shaped properly through this procedure. If you are unhappy with the size of your breasts, you can discuss with your surgeon to explore the possibility of a breast enlargement or reduction as you go through the breast lift procedure.

Breast Lift Techniques

There are different types of incisions that the surgeon can use depending on how much your breasts have sagged. The crescent lift is where the surgeon makes a small incision on the upper part of the areola and removes a small amount of skin. This lift is suitable when you need the breasts lifted slightly.

The peri-areolar or donut lift is where the surgeon makes a circular incision around the areola and takes out a piece of skin in the shape of a donut. The size of the areola can be reduced and a breast implant can be inserted when this technique is used.

A lollipop or vertical lift takes place when the surgeon makes an incision around the areola and then down to the crease of the breast. The surgeon can remove excess skin from each side of the vertical incision and can then reshape the breast. The inverted T lift takes place when the incision runs around the areola, vertically down to the crease of the breast and then horizontally along the crease of the breast.

This procedure is used when the breasts are severely drooped so that the surgeon can get rid of all the sagging tissues and excess skin. This lift can be combined with a breast reduction procedure.

Recovering From Surgery

Normally, you will undergo the breast lift procedure as an outpatient. The procedure can take two hours or less after which the scars will be bandaged and you will be allowed to go home. Your breasts may be swollen and sore for the first few days and your surgeon may prescribe pain medication. You may be able to resume work one week after the breast lift. In Sydney, the cosmetic surgeons will guide you as to when you can resume rigorous exercising. You may however be allowed to walk and carry out light duties until you are completely healed.
